Online Training

I’m not your typical online trainer.

For one thing, I have a PhD (in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences), which enables me to take a super scientific approach to training.

For another, I don’t believe in cookie-cutter programs. I write every single training program for my clients from scratch – no templates – based on their unique needs and goals.

Here’s how online training with me works:

We start with a one-hour consultation, where we chat about your goals, training history, injury history, lifestyle, training schedule, likes and dislikes, access to equipment, etc.

Day 3 of a sample training program

I take that information, mix it all together, and design a monthly individualized training program for you. The program includes short YouTube video tutorials of each exercise, additional coaching cues, sets/reps, and space to record your weights and notes.

We then keep in touch as much or as little as you need.

Just need a program once a month? Great! Need more check-ins about your form or have lots of questions? Also great! Send me a video or shoot me an email, and you’ll hear back from me within a day or two.

Who’s my online training program for?

I work with a wide range of clients (see testimonials below, for example), from high-level athletes to senior citizens. The common threads are the desire to get stronger, train smarter and pain-free, and perform better, whether that’s in sports or activities of daily living.

Somehow or another, I’ve become a gym rat over the last 14 years. What started as an aid to quit smoking when I turned 30 has now become a necessity for being a functioning husband, parent, teacher, and human. I don’t know how I got here, but here I am…the person who now finds a gym while on vacation. As others were hoarding toilet paper this past March when COVID shut down whatever normal was, I found a flat bench and what seemed to be the last pair of adjustable dumbbells (as heavy as I could find them), scrounged up an ab-wheel and some other things we had laying around the house, and got in touch with the good Doctor Pollen to set me up with some spicy home workouts that would maintain my fitness goals. This guy exceeded my expectations. In fact, I’d go so far as to say he has reconfigured my idea of what my workouts should be. It’s easy to get caught up in habitual movement, and were it not for Travis, there are several parts of each workout he’s given me that I would have never considered doing.
